The Poncho is beginning to come together. I got the car on the road about 2 weeks before the Woodward Dream Cruise 2000. As a matter of fact I took that week off work to try to get it completed. The morning of the City of Berkley parade I sprayed the running boards and put in the grills in the front fenders. It was and still is a lot of hard work. I did most of the work myself. I’m not too good with metal forming and welding, so I had Nick Conte of Conte’s Custom and Classics do the major sheetmetal work. He also sprayed the paint after I did all the body prep, filler primer and sanding.

Slims Hot Rods installed the Fatman’s Fabrication front frame clip specifically made for a ’39 Pontiac and verified from my measurements. They also set the Lincoln Versailles 9" rear axle. Livernois Auto Glass cut all my glass and set the windshield and rear window. I installed the side glass.

I still have a lot of work to do such as: Install complete interior; repaint the running boards; install the keyless entry; install radio; complete AC ductwork; soften rear suspension; replace headers w/RAIII manifolds (they scrape the ground occasionally); resolve engine-cooling issue. But, that’s what winters in Michigan are for.
